November 10 Meeting Recap

Our November 2018 meeting was held at the Golden Corral in Alpharetta Ga. We had a total of 14 members and their family in attendance. As members began to trickle in, I opened the box containing the Blue Knights shirts that were ordered just before the Heroes For Heroes ride. Needless to say I hadn’t had enough coffee yet, and was beginning to make a mess of sorting out the shirts for our members. Doug Becks wife, Anne must have seen the deer in the headlight look on my face and came to my rescue. She lined the shirts up on a table with names attached which worked very well. Thanks Anne for your help!

After some fellowship with each other I blessed the meal and everyone had a good breakfast.
We opened the meeting with our 50/50 Drawing which a total of $45.00 was collected toward our general fund. We then discussed the upcoming Buck Jones Memorial Toy Run set for November the 18th. Along with our Blue Knight Chapter VI, I’m expecting a large number of Blue Knights from other Georgia Chapters to attend this years ride with the help of Mike Shockley, BK State Representative in getting the word out on the Toy Run. Matt Hester has been working with the Forsyth Sheriff Dept. to get all the Blue Knights a position toward the front of the ride. I’ll get more out on this as we approach the date of the toy run.

Our web master David Booth gave us an update on the new Chapter web page and and face book. He then explained the in and outs of adding new administrators etc. Thanks David for your work on getting the web page set up. This should generate new members in the future for our club.

We then discussed ways to generate money toward the general fund which included: holding a yearly charity event, selling raffle tickets and holding a car wash bike show in the spring of 2019.

Further business discussed was the annual Christmas Party. Location and date has not be determined at this time however please let me know if you have any suggestion on this.

In other BK news, the floor was opened for nominations to fill the vacant Vice President slot that has been opened since July 2018. A nomination for Matt Hester was presented. This was followed by a second then a unanimous vote for Matt to hold this position within our Chapter. I’m sure having an active Vice President in our chapter will help move this Club in the right direction. Congratulations Matt!

Other rides discussed along with the Buck Jones Toy Run were Wheels through time in Maggie Valley N.C. , Field of Woods ride and the Great Locomotive Chase Ride. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on any hooky rides!
I will be leaving for the Knights on the Island ride in Jekyll Island tomorrow. I hope to gather some valuable tips from Mike Shockley and other Fla. Chapter Presidents which will help in recruiting new members along with ideas in making our club stronger than ever.

In closing I would like to congratulate our 50/50 winner, Barbara Hecht who contributed her winnings back into the general fund.

Until next time,

Ride with Pride and be safe
